Cropping and basic edits

1. Select the image in Media → Library (or click “Edit” on an inline image).
2. Click “Edit Image”.
3. Use the crop tool, or rotate/flip/scale as needed, then click the crop icon to apply, and Save.

Alignment

With an Image block selected, use the toolbar to set alignment (left, center, right, wide, or full width).

Alt text – why it matters

Alt text is a short written description of the image, read aloud by screen readers for visually impaired visitors, and shown if the image fails to load. It’s also used by search engines.

1. Select the image block.
2. Open the block settings panel on the right.
3. Find the “Alt text” field and describe what’s in the image in a short sentence, e.g. “Volunteers setting up chairs in the church hall”.

Tip: Don’t just repeat the filename or write “image of” – describe what’s actually shown and why it’s relevant, and leave it blank only for purely decorative images.
