Policies, forms, and safeguarding documents

Policies, forms, and safeguarding documents are often shared as downloadable PDFs. Here’s how to add them properly.

Uploading the document

  1. Go to Media → Add New (or upload directly from the File block, see below).
  2. Upload your PDF or Word document as you would an image.

Adding a download link or button

  1. Click + and add a “File” block.
  2. Upload the document or select it from the Media Library.
  3. The File block automatically adds a download link, and you can optionally show it as a button instead.

Naming your files sensibly

Before uploading, rename the file itself to something clear (e.g. safeguarding-policy-2026.pdf rather than scan001.pdf) – this becomes part of the URL and helps people find the right version later.

Careful: If you’re replacing an outdated policy document, consider whether the old file needs removing from the Media Library too, so it can’t still be found via a direct link or search engine.
