How the Revisions Plugin Works: Submit for Review, Accept, Reject

This site uses a custom plugin called Revisions to manage a review process for content changes. Here’s how it works from the point of view of someone submitting a change.

Submitting a change

When you edit a post or page and don’t have direct publishing rights, you won’t see the usual “Publish” or “Update” button. Instead, you’ll see Submit for Review.

1. Make your edits as normal in the block editor.
2. Click “Submit for Review” instead of Publish.
3. Your change is saved and marked as awaiting review – the live page is not affected yet.

What a reviewer sees

Someone with review permissions sees your submission in a list, along with two possible actions: Accept or Reject.

• Accept – your changes are applied to the live page.
• Reject – your changes are not applied, and you may be able to see why depending on whether a note was left.

Checking the status of your submission

Open the post or page again from the Posts/Pages list – its status will show whether it’s still pending, or whether it’s been accepted or rejected.

Tip: You can keep editing your submission and resubmit it at any point before a reviewer has actioned it.
