Setting a Featured Image

The featured image is the picture WordPress uses to represent a post or page elsewhere on the site – in listings, on social media shares, and in search results.
Setting one
- Open the post or page in the editor.
- In the right-hand sidebar, find the “Featured image” panel (you may need to click the “Post” or “Page” tab first).
- Click “Set featured image”, then upload a new file or choose one from the Media Library.
Choosing a good one
- Use a landscape (wider than tall) image where possible – most listing layouts crop to this shape.
- Avoid images with important text or faces right at the edges, as they may get cropped.
- Remember to add alt text to it too, the same as any other image.
Tip: If a post looks fine on the page itself but shows a broken or generic image when shared on social media, check that a featured image has actually been set.
